A little about me…
My name is Kendall Johns and I am a filmmaker. I am currently pursuing a double-major at the University of Regina to get my BFA in Film Production and BA in Psychology.
My specialty is stop motion animation but I usually save those films to do in my spare time. Aside from that, I adore working as part of a team on film sets and have gotten the opportunity to work on many films with my fellow film students, as well as some other side projects. A few of the films I have worked on have also received awards so that’s a bonus!
I am flexible in my filmmaking techniques and am always up for a challenge to build my skillset and to learn more. If you’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is always willing to go the extra-mile, then look no further!
Here are some of the films I have worked on while at the U of R.
The Delivery: Our fourth-year major project. I was the camera assistant working alongside the cinematographer, DJ Carnegie. All of the fourth year students from 2019 worked collaboratively on two films, and this was the one I worked on. Shot on RED.
Quiet on Set: Written, shot, and edited in just 12 hours! I directed this gorilla-style film and had a blast working on it! The brilliant scripting and actors brought this piece to life, earning us the “Viewer’s Choice” award at the 2019 FSA Awards Gala.
Here are some films I have worked on outside of school:
Tribal: On this film I was part of the sound crew. We spent a lot of time outside and in rundown farm houses. This gave me the opportunity to battle with the wind and aim to get the best sound possible whilst recording in nature.
Dead by Daylight: This campy 80’s era horror film was a BLAST to work on! From accidentally roasting flies on our set lights (they smelled like hot dogs) to stepping on dead mice in dark cellars, this film was the most unique to work on. Lots of late nights were worth how well this film turned out, although I still can’t forget sound of flies buzzing at high volumes in my earphones….
